Speed Skates are a true multi-purpose roller skate with one essential quality that makes them unique, they are intended to go fast. Favored by teenagers and young adults, they are used for Competitive, Jam, Roller Derby or Recreational skating.
Most Speed Skates have a low cut boot and may or may not include a velcro power strap that provides extra ankle support. The wheels on these skates are typically wider (40mm) and taller (62mm) with a hardness of 95A to 98A. Higher end speed wheels will not give an exact hardness but will usually be identified with terms of soft (grip) or firm (less grip) or hard (little grip). |
